Novatti, a leading specialist in payment solutions, is proud to announce its partnership with the newly funded Care Economy Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), which has been awarded $35 million in federal funding under the Australian Government’s Round 25 CRC grants.
Headquartered at La Trobe University, the Care Economy CRC unites 60 organisations committed to reshaping the future of care—from aged care and disability support to early childhood education, mental health, housing, and community services—by addressing workforce shortages, outdated systems, and growing pressure from Australia’s ageing population.
Valued at more than $327 billion, the care economy is one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing industries. Yet many providers continue to face barriers created by legacy infrastructure, inefficient funding flows, and rising operational complexity that create avoidable friction across the care journey.
Novatti will contribute its payments expertise to help transform how care services are delivered, working with CRC partners to develop cutting-edge technology, connected data solutions, and digital innovations with a focus on making funding flows faster, more transparent, and easier to manage.
“Care providers face growing pressure to deliver more personalised, timely support, but they’re often let down by systems that don’t talk to each other or scale easily,” said Mark Healy, CEO of Novatti. “Our role in the CRC is about helping shift that, by using payments to make life easier for providers, support workers, and the people receiving care.”
Novatti already supports a range of organisations across the health and care sectors, including expense management platforms, aged care providers and payroll services for support workers.
“Our experience in the sector gives us a unique opportunity to apply research in a meaningful way,” Healy said. “We see a future where providers have better tools, people get faster access to services, and money moves more efficiently and securely across the ecosystem.”
As a key contributor to the health and care sector, Novatti’s involvement in the Care Economy CRC reflects its ongoing commitment to advancing research, driving innovation, and improving care delivery systems across Australia.
