Branchless Banking Technology

Branchless Banking (or agency banking) is a means for third party traditional banks to cost-effectively extend their branch network through the use of authorised agents. This enables the bank to provide low-risk services to customers in remote and rural areas that are difficult to service using traditional branches. The bank benefits through a larger customer base, boosting financial inclusion, product availability, and risk management.

How Branchless Banking works?

The operation of Branchless Banking is based on agents performing transactions on behalf of banked customers using a portable terminal (mobile phone, mobile EDC terminal etc.). These agents will have a stored value account (digital wallet) on the Novatti platform, and the platform will apply the defined business rules to transactions initiated by these agents. Customers of the licenced bank can either have accounts on the core banking system, or a digital wallet on the Novatti platform, and the agent transacts on these accounts on behalf of the customer. The host system will apply the business rules for the customers’ accounts.

The platform allows agents to put cash into their wallets and get cash out of wallets using a broad set of business rules. Agents can use the service to transfer value from their stored value account to another stored value account, or a customer’s bank account.

Bank customers may also be issued with a magnetic stripe/chip card and a Bank PIN, and can then use this card and PIN to perform transactions. This requires the agent terminal to have the ability to read the data on the account card.

Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL)

Buy now pay later schemes are exactly what you think – you get the opportunity to buy something without having to pay for it until a later date. Sometimes known as point of sale (POS) credit or POS financing.

How does BNPL work?

If you use buy now pay later carefully you could delay paying for something for several months, or even a year, and not pay a penny in interest. Because of how flexible buy now pay later is, you can customise the solution and set up any rules you'd like to impose on your stakeholders. This includes setting payment terms, interest rates, or any penalties for participating in the payment scheme.

Buy now, pay later can be a useful option if your customers don’t have a credit card as you can customise how the payment plan is achieved.

Donations

A donation is a physical gift given by an individual, usually for charitable purposes or to help a cause. A donation can be in different forms such as goods, in kind, used materials such as clothes or toys, food, and transportation means. It may also be in the form of relief goods or services especially in times of emergencies or calamities such as first aid kids, health aid kits, humanitarian support, development aid. It can also include medical care needs.

Who can use it?

An individual who gives a donation or a gift is the donor while the beneficiary of the donations is known as the receiver. All kinds of institutions and individuals can benefit from donations, such as employees, multi-national entities, local businesses, healthcare workers, locals, charitable institutions, churches, government offices, schools, restaurants, children, families, and communities.

How does Donations work?

Donations are given in kind and are not forced onto the donor. Provide virtual vouchers to merchants via an EFTPOS terminal, web portal or mobile app. Vouchers can be delivered on demand or downloaded and stored in terminal for later sale. The prepaid operator maintains control over the products available to each dealer, and the margins available for each product. Prepaid PINs are encrypted for storage on the system and are not visible to system users. A full audit trail is maintained providing historical information for every transaction and all user activity.

Mobile Money

An effective means of facilitating secure electronic transactions in both developed and developing markets. Customers have a convenient way to create an electronic account and maintain a ‘stored value.’ Accessible from mobile phones and can be used for a broad range of financial transactions.

How it works

Novatti’s Mobile Money solutions connects service providers and end-users by turning any mobile phone into an electronic funds account; allowing service providers to target both banked and unbanked users. It can be easily and quickly adapted to a variety of requirements.

Having this versatile and scalable solution in place, service providers can offer a broad spectrum of smart and practical branded services, such as merchant purchases, remittance, bill payments and more. They will also be supported by comprehensive reports containing all settlement details.

Voucher Management System

Voucher Management System (VMS) assists with resolving day-to-day operational issues confronted by many prepaid operators. It streamlines and coordinates the dynamics of the complex supply-chain inter-relationships, and assists in meeting the commercial obligations within the ecosystem providing the prepaid operator with competitive advantages. This results in enhanced service to their distribution channels and a more reliable product supply for their customers. How does Voucher Management System work?
